"The Cabin: Aldar Beedo's Tale" is a short story co-written by HodagRPG and Wayne Mann. It was first published on November 15, 2024[1] as the twenty-third story from Tales from the Boonta Eve Classic. In the print release of the anthology, it is the twenty-sixth story.[2]
Blurb
More than 30 years after the Boonta Eve Classic, retired podracer and hitman Aldar Beedo reflects on his life.[3]
Plot summary
Aldar Beedo remains a hitman well into the reign of the Galactic Empire.[3] In pursuit of a bounty posted on a gang of Ongree terrorists, Beedo encounters fellow bounty hunters EleesTeleers and Kelem Rax, who have narrowly beat him to his quarry. Beedo opens fire on the two hunters, then kills the Ongree. While Beedo takes measures to mitigate the chance of the hunters surviving, he does not confirm the kills.[3]
In the present, Beedo is at his cabin when he is attacked by an unknown assailant. When he attempts to escape, he is caught in a bolonet trap set by Rax and Elees. As he dies, they tell him it is "just business."[3]
