Plot summary

Xizor, heir apparent to the third largest province on Falleen, head of Xizor Transport Systems, and former member of Black Sun is forced into a crossroads. His father wishes to abdicate and have Xizor assume the throne, and arranges a marriage between Xizor and Princess Xiala. However, Xizor's former underworld contact, Dal Perhi, reaches out with a business proposition. Xizor discards another proposal by Xomit Grunseit, delivered by his messenger, Xavok Drenn, out of hand.[2]

After his guards report a stowaway aboard one of XTS's vessels, Xizor interrogates her personally, learning of a plot between Gardulla Besadii the Elder and the Bando Gora linked to Senator Connus Trell.[2] Following a meeting with Xiala, in which she reveals that the arranged marriage was borne from her maiming the other princesses and poisoning the other nobles of Falleen, Xizor heads to Coruscant to meet with both Trell and Perhi.[2]

Perhi tasks Xizor with getting the reborn and resurgent Black Sun into Jabba the Hutt's good graces, and sends him to Tatooine in time for the Boonta Eve Classic, believing the festivities will make Jabba more receptive to an offer. While on the way to Jabba's box in the Grand Arena, Xizor again encounters Drenn, who claims responsibility for the assassination of Princess Xiala. Enraged, Xizor stalks Drenn out of the arena and scalps him.[2] When Xizor returns to Jabba's box, the Hutt agrees to his terms on the condition that Xizor remains his personal liaison with Black Sun.[2]
