"Rock Bottom: Mawhonic's Tale" is a short story written by Captain Henson. It was released on AO3 on October 26, 2024[1] as the fifth story from the Tales from the Boonta Eve Classic anthology. It is also the fifth story in the print release of the book.[2]
Plot summary
Mawhonic reflects on his loss at the Boonta Eve while drowning his sorrows at the Racer's Edge cantina.[3] Gasgano antagonizes him, and the two get into a fistfight that is soon interrupted by the Mandalorian Ka'thar Fell, who incapacitates Mawhonic with a dart.[3]
Mawhonic enlists Ka'thar to hunt and kill Sebulba's kin as revenge for making him crash during the Boonta. The pair later meet with Mawhonic's manager, Ziss Heiss. A masochist, Heiss requests Ka'thar record her kills and send him the footage.[3]
In a brief epilogue, Ka'thar privately contacts Mawhonic to let him know she will be joining Jango Fett's Cuy'val Dar and will "disappear."[3] Mawhonic realizes the futility of revenge and sets off to race in the Vinta Harvest Classic while entertaining the possibility of training a rookie to succeed him.
