"All in the Family: Gardulla's Tale" is a short story written by Lance Leibrock. It was first published on November 4, 2024[1] as the fourteenth story from Tales from the Boonta Eve Classic. It is the sixteenth story in the print release of the anthology.[3]
Plot summary
Seven years after Jango Fett fed Gardulla Besadii the Elder to her own krayt dragon, her daughter Decca Besadii Diori has taken over her criminal empire. However, the dragon was not able to digest Gardulla prior to being killed by Jango; thus, she survived.[2] Traveling from planet to planet with each of her new ventures ending in failure, Gardulla ultimately settles on trying to take back her enterprise from Decca. To do so, she teams up with the new head of the Bounty Hunters' Guild, Cradossk.[2]
Meanwhile, Decca assembles forces of her own in preparation for a war against her mother. While Jango Fett turns her down, the Wookiee bounty hunter Snoova accepts.[2] Gardulla and Decca's fleets eventually go head-to-head. Decca's slave Trance Shiv attempts to kill Snoova in order to settle an old score, but ends up killed himself. Meanwhile, it is also revealed Snoova is working for Jabba.[2]
Though Cradossk and Gardulla suffer heavy losses, Jabba's fleet arrives to save them from sure destruction and immediately destroy Decca's fleet. When Gardulla asks Jabba why he bothered to help her despite their decades-long rivalry, Jabba offers her his hand in an alliance, which Gardulla accepts.[2]
