Blurb
Ark Roose, once a celebrated podracer, has spent years haunted by a race that changed everything. Burdened by the ghosts of his past and a series of bad decisions, he now drifts aimlessly through the galaxy. But when a mysterious Mandalorian crosses his path, Ark is forced to confront the truth about his downfall and the choices that led him there. Ark must decide whether to stay lost in regret or finally face the future he's been avoiding for so long.[4]
Plot summary
Ark Roose, dismayed and disheveled following his crash in the Boonta Eve Classic two years prior, has become a vagrant drunkard wandering from cantina to cantina.[2] He still blames Anakin Skywalker for his loss and the subsequent fallout of his career. In Stoneheart's Cantina on Durmont VII, after having a drunken outburst, he is approached by the Mandalorian bounty hunter Sulvan Getrik.[2] As a longtime podracing enthusiast, Getrik is happy to get a chance to speak with Roose and learn his perspective on the events that transpired at the Boonta Eve.[2]
However, Getrik, ever the dedicated podracing fan, recorded the entirety of the race from all conceivable angles. He shows Roose these recordings, hoping to change his perspective. Roose realizes that his bitterness came from a desire to not see the truth, and turns a new leaf.
In a brief epilogue, Getrik reflects on his encounter with Roose while on Kamino, preparing to serve as one of Jango Fett's Cuy'val Dar.[5]
