Biography

The Dark Empire

Soon after the Battle of Endor, Sate Pestage left Coruscant in search of Palpatine's spirit, leaving his ally Sarcev Quest to prop up Pestage's clone in his absence. When Quest felt Palpatine return eight months after the Battle of Endor, he realized the real Pestage had succeeded in his quest; from then on, Quest considered Pestage's clone expendable.

On Byss, Pestage served the reborn Palpatine alongside Mas Amedda and Jeng Droga. When Palpatine declared that he required more adepts like Droga to serve as extensions of his will, Pestage instructed the Inquisitorius to round up suitable subjects. Later, Pestage informed the Emperor that it would take more than a decade to repopulate Byss if he killed most of the planet's population of just over ten billion people for their sake of their life essences. Pestage then looked on as Palpatine demonstrated that clones were an inferior source of life energy.

When Mammon Hoole sent Triclops' conserved head to Byss by way of apology for failing to deliver Ken, Pestage brought the head to Palpatine. Pestage also relayed reports about the strength of Palpatine's hidden fleets and his assets throughout the galaxy to Palpatine.

Pestage was present in the Citadel's throne room when Palpatine used the Kaan Heptad to tap the energy of every darksider in the galaxy, and he witnessed the death of Palpatine's clone when the Heptad was broken by Lumiya.[2]

After Palpatine's death and the near-supernova of Byss' sun Beshqek in late 5 ABY, Pestage took stock of the remaining forces in the Beshqek system with help from Corporal Seerdon, the droid 11-4D, and the rock-encased Cronal. They realized that Superior General Delvardus, who had arrived in the system just prior to the cataclysm, had fled again, but Cronal assured Pestage that Delvardus had not caused the catastrophe, and that Lumiya, who had escaped the system as well, was to blame. They then received a recorded message from Delvardus informing them that he had taken his fleet to the Kampe system after detecting a stellar anomaly in Beshqek. Pestage sent Seerdon outside to record a reassuring message to Delvardus, likely dooming him due to the high radiation levels from the near-supernova.[3]
