Sander Delvardus
Sander Delvardus is an existing character from Legends.[1]
Biography
At the Imperial Court
During the height of the Empire, Delvardus spent a lot of time at the Imperial Palace on Coruscant. There, he befriended the Emperor's Hand Sarcev Quest, who often acted as his "wingman" in romantic pursuits. Once, Quest tried to dissuade Delvardus from wooing Ysanne Isard, but Delvardus ignored his advice to his detriment.[2]
Retreat to the Deep Core
After putting his mistress Seledra-Zin into a coma in a fit of rage, Delvardus desperately looked for ways to save her. When the false Supreme Prophet Kadann publicly announced his intention to conquer Coruscant in 5 ABY, Delvardus decided to take his fleet to Coruscant as well, hoping to find a way to cure her in Palpatine's storehouse. Before it could come to that, however, Sarcev Quest revealed to Delvardus that the Emperor was alive on Byss, indicating that Delvardus should seek help from him personally. To provide an excuse for taking his fleet into the Deep Core, Quest suggested Delvardus launch a series of attacks on the New Republic, lose them, and then give the appearance of fleeing. Quest also suggested Sullust as the site of the first of these battles, in service of Quest's own secret plan to kill the reborn Emperor.[2]
When Delvardus arrived at Byss, an armored shuttle Quest had sent along detached from his fleet and went on a ballistic course towards Byss' sun Beshqek and its blue dwarf companion. Droids aboard the ship used gravitational field disruptors to increase the blue dwarf's weight to the seventh power, sending it plunging into Beshqek and causing it to go supernova. Delvardus was ignorant of Quest's plan, but as soon as he detected stellar fluctuations, he sent a warning message to Byss control and took his fleet to the Kampe system.[3]
Thrawn and Palpatine
Delvardus did not support Grand Admiral Thrawn when he returned from the Unknown Regions to take control of the Imperial Navy. By 9 ABY, Delvardus' Super Star Destroyer Night Hammer had been built, but the Superior General refused to lend it to Thrawn for use as his flagship.[4]
