Biography
Rebirth
"Hands"
At some point in 4 ABY, Lumiya was brought to Byss by Darth Vader, where Palpatine refined her cybernetic parts in the chambers below the Imperial Citadel. Lumiya's impression at the time was that Vader and Palpatine were waging a secret war over her allegiance.[2]
Hunting the Prophets of the Dark Side
When Lumiya embarked on her quest to destroy the Prophets of the Dark Side together with Carnor Jax, Jax convinced her to confuse Kadann's prophetic foresight by having multiple enemies of Kadann kill various people who either claimed to be or believed themselves to be Kadann – a strategy Jax had developed together with Sarcev Quest. Going at random through a list of Kadann's enemies, they confronted King Nefta in his exile on Odacer-Faustin. Nefta agreed to help them, killing one woman whom Lumiya had convinced she was Kadann aboard Lumiya's ship, the Revenant, in exchange for a promise from Lumiya to bring him to Byss to meet the reborn Emperor. Nefta also revealed to Lumiya that the real Prophets of the Dark Side were hiding on Bosthirda, and Lumiya passed that information on to Grand Admiral Makati, who had just helped destroy the false Prophets on Space Station Scardia.
At the battle of Bosthirda, Lumiya watched as Makati's bombardment line was destroyed when Bosthirda's moon was blown up on orders from Kadann and the Dreaming Vineyard of Bosthirda threw a volley of torpedos back at the Torpedo Sphere which had launched them. Together with Carnor Jax, Lumiya boarded a Pacifier-class assault boat and ordered Captain Valek to have Revenant's turbolasers clear a way through the moon shards for them. When they arrived on the planet, having liquified the vines surrounding the Prophets' temple using defoliant spray, they found Kadann dead at the hands of Azrakel. At Lumiya's direction, Jax cut off Azrakel's hand with the Glove of Darth Vader. When Ken, who had traveled to Bosthirda with Azrakel, said farewell to the dying darksider, Lumiya offered to recruit him into the Empire. Lumiya and Jax then went to kill the remaining Prophets of the Dark Side. When they returned, Ken had stolen their ship, and Lumiya called Captain Valek for extraction.
Afterwards, Lumiya, Jax and Nefta traveled to Byss, where Lumiya presented Palpatine with the Glove of Darth Vader. Palpatine destroyed the Glove to retrieve the amulet inside it, thanking Lumiya for enabling him to complete the Kaan Heptad.[2]
Break with the Emperor
A while later, Lumiya and Carnor Jax returned to Byss, where Jax tried out for a position with the Imperial Sovereign Protectors. Lumiya was among the six darksiders chosen by Palpatine to each wear an amulet from the Kaan Heptad, allowing Palpatine to draw on their powers. Another of those darksiders, Sa-Di, had brought Ken to Byss after retrieving him from Prakith, and Palpatine broke Ken's will in front of the assembled darksiders, causing the boy to pledge his loyalty to Palpatine. Palpatine then placed one of Kaan's amulets on Lumiya's throat, where it melted against her skin. While Palpatine was using the Heptad to compel everyone in the galaxy who had ever touched the dark side to serve him, Lumiya looked for a way to escape the Heptad's influence. When Byss' sun exploded and Palpatine was distracted by trying to contain the supernova, Nefta surreptitiously helped Lumiya to break free. Lumiya was about to strike Palpatine down with her lightwhip when Ken attacked her, knocking the amulet off her throat. Palpatine died immediately afterwards as a result of the Heptad being broken.[2] Lumiya then fled, killing a Sovereign Protector in the process. When she encountered Carnor Jax on her way to the landing platform, she quietly instructed him to stay on Byss, make sure all of Palpatine's clones were dead, and find out what he could.[3]
