The Dreaming Vineyard of Bosthirda was a single sentient vine plant that covered most of the planet's main continent.[1]

History

Some time after the death of Darth Xedrix in 3954 BBY, a vine grew through his corpse, absorbing some of his lingering dark side powers. The vine eventually grew to cover most of the continent.

When the Prophets of the Dark Side went into hiding on Bosthirda, they used the vine's psychoactive grapes to enhance their visions of the future, and to communicate with the vine itself. Wine brewed from the grapes could also link the minds of people who had drunk the same wine, allowing them to exchange thoughts in an untraceable way. At least one bottle of this wine made its way to King Nefta in his exile on Odacer-Faustin.

In 5 ABY, when Grand Admiral Makati and Azrakel attacked Bosthirda, the vine turned back a barrage of torpedos from a Torpedo Sphere by grabbing them with vines high in the atmosphere and flinging them back at the attackers. Despite the vineyard's plea to the contrary, the Supreme Prophet Kadann ordered Bosthirda's moon to be detonated as a further means of defense, resulting in a near-unpassable debris field around the planet. Falling chunks of the moon damaged the vine, even though it flung back many of the pieces. When Azrakel and Ken landed on the planet, Ken was able to convince the vine that Kadann had been acting against the vine's interests; the vine then released Azrakel, allowing him to kill Kadann. Shortly afterwards, Lumiya and Carnor Jax arrived, killing parts of the vine around the Prophets' temple with defoliant. The vine subsequently retreated, but it survived to reconquer the planet eventually.[1]
