Biography

King of Ord Radama

At one point, Nefta reigned over the planet Ord Radama from the capital of Livien Magnus.[2]

Senator for Esstran sector

During the height of the Galactic Empire, Nefta was the senator for the Esstran sector until the Imperial Senate's dissolution in 0 ABY.[2]

Exile on Odacer-Faustin

At some point before the Battle of Endor, the Supreme Prophet of the Dark Side Kadann told Palpatine that Nefta would one day try to assassinate Palpatine and usurp his throne. In response, Palpatine offered Nefta a choice between exile and death. Nefta went into exile on Odacer-Faustin, where he made his home in the ruins of the old Sith academy and used the remains of the Neti librarian Dail'Liss as his throne. He remained there until 5 ABY, when Lumiya and Carnor Jax approached him as part of their plan to kill Kadann. Forging a mental link with Carnor Jax through wine made of grapes from the Dreaming Vineyard of Bosthirda, Kadann agreed to the plan on the condition that Lumiya take him to the reborn Palpatine on Byss.[2]

The Dark Empire

When Nefta rejoined Palpatine on Byss in late 5 ABY, Palpatine greeted him as an old friend. Nefta, however, was already planning to remove Palpatine as an obstacle, as he confirmed through his mental link with Carnor Jax. Nefta was one of the six darksiders in Palpatine's service who received an amulet from the Kaan Heptad from him, along with Lumiya; through the Heptad, Palpatine channeled the powers of everyone alive in the galaxy who had ever touched the dark side of the Force. When Byss' sun exploded, as part of a separate scheme to kill the reborn Emperor, Palpatine used those powers to contain the supernova. While Palpatine was distracted in this way, Nefta used his mental link with Lumiya to break her free of Palpatine's compulsion, and she attempted to strike Palpatine down. Lumiya was stopped by the intervention of Ken, but the breaking of the Heptad was enough to overwhelm Palpatine and kill his clone body.[2]

After Lumiya had fled Byss, Nefta joined Mas Amedda, Carnor Jax and others in an expedition to the Imperial Citadel's subterranean cloning laboratory. Through their mind link, he explained to Jax that the creature they found locked in a cabinet was the Constable of Homunculi, Borborygmus Gog, and that the tadpoles dying underfoot were the remains of a secret attempt of Amedda's to create children of his own. When they found all of Palpatine's clones dead, Nefta realized that Palpatine had ripped out their life energy in his desperation to save himself when the Kaan Heptad broke. He was astonished at the fact, but cautioned Jax not to underestimate Palpatine.[3]

Personality and traits

Nefta was self-assured and outspoken, even towards nominal superiors such as Palpatine. He had no patience for riddles, parables or mysteries. He had a talent for keeping his true thoughts and ambitions hidden from others, even through the Force.[2] He often wore an expression of disdain on his ageless face.[4]
