Biography
Break with the Prophets of the Dark Side
When the Supreme Prophet of the Dark Side Kadann told the Emperor of a vision that he would die at Endor, Cronal vehemently disagreed and denounced Kadann as a defeatist. As a result, Kadann and the other true Prophets of the Dark Side were banished by Palpatine and went into hiding on Bosthirda. Cronal was considered a traitor by Kadann from that point on.[2]
Media producer
In 4-5 ABY, Cronal ran a multi-pronged media campaign to prepare the ground for his various plans. Besides the holothriller Luke Skywalker and the Jedi's Revenge, this plan also included the holo series The Jedi Prince, which was based on the real-life exploits of the boy Ken, portrayed by a holomodel of the young Garik Loran in the series. The series was produced by media mogul and Church of the Dark Side initiate Mahd Windcaller and released via the false-flag channel SPIN Entertainment to make it seem like New Republic propaganda. Cronal used his own foresight as well as the resources of Imperial Intelligence and the Church of the Dark Side to supply the plot for future seasons of The Jedi Prince to Windcaller, even before the true stories it was supposedly based on had happened. When reporting to Palpatine, Cronal claimed that the point of his media productions was to convey to the populace that all possible successors to Palpatine were insufficient and thus pave the way for broad acceptance of Palpatine's eventual return, but the Emperor knew that Cronal was lying.[2]
Life as a rock
Cronal's apparent death at Mindor came as a shock to both Palpatine and the Prophets of the Dark Side. Palpatine sent Jeng Droga to look for information on Cronal's fate, and Droga eventually found what remained of Cronal drifting through deep space encased in meltmassif. By the time Droga delivered Cronal to Byss, Cronal was conscious but immobile, with only his eyes and two joints of one little finger poking out of the mass of rock that encased his body. Nevertheless, Palpatine chose him as one of the six darksiders to whom he gave one of the seven amulets of the Kaan Heptad, enabling him to tap the power of every darksider in the galaxy. In this position, Cronal witnessed as Palpatine narrowly contained the explosion of Byss' sun Beshqek, which killed Palpatine's clone body when Lumiya broke the Heptad.[2] Afterwards, Cronal assisted Sate Pestage in taking stock of the forces still left in the Beshqek system; he advised Pestage that Lumiya had escaped and would be irretrievable, and that Superior General Delvardus was not to blame for the cataclysm, even though his fleet had arrived just before it happened and then fled as soon as the sun grew unstable.[3]
