Biography

Jedi career

Jerec and his apprentice, Ameesa Darys, briefly met So Plett at some point.[2] He also had been seen by Anakin Skywalker from afar, but the two never properly met.[3] He was known as the Order's greatest scholar behind his Master, Jocasta Nu.[3]

Rise to power

Jerec was captured and interrogated by Palpatine himself shortly after the Declaration of a New Order, and afterwards, he was promoted to High Inquisitor. He quickly became one of Palpatine's most trusted agents, and by 17 BBY, he rivaled Darth Vader in terms of influence, and he had gathered a swath of apprentice Inquisitors loyal to him.[3]

Capture of Altis

In 17 BBY, Jerec found out about Ysalamiri, which Drayneen used to capture Djinn Altis, Kina Ha, and Tallisibeth Edwandung-Esterhazy on Lucazec. He was ordered to send them to Prakith, but he personally remained on Coruscant.[3]

Warlord

Immediately after the Battle of Endor, Jerec was in the Annaj system aboard Vengeance when the remains of the Imperial fleet arrived there from Endor. Jerec brought Vice Admiral Prittick under his control before calling a number of fleet commanders to Vengeance for a war council. Admiral Harrsk arrived from Ilthmar's Fist, demanding command of the fleet and berating Captain Pellaeon for ordering the retreat. Jerec announced his intention to make all forces in the system part of his new Empire and use them in his search for the Valley of the Jedi. Harrsk refused vehemently and departed, taking Ilthmar's Fist into the Deep Core. Pellaeon and most other commanders, including General Baron Soontir Fel, left as well and made their way to Coruscant.[4]

Soon after, Jerec traveled to Honoghr, where he claimed to be Darth Vader's chosen successor as ruler of the Noghri, a function to which Vader had originally appointed Grand Admiral Thrawn.[5]

When Cronal informed the reborn Palpatine of Jerec's quest to find the Valley of the Jedi, Palpatine told Cronal to let him proceed. Later, Palpatine would tease Cronal about his daughter, Sariss, joining up with Jerec, but Cronal claimed to have disavowed Sariss long ago.[6]

The Valley of the Jedi

At one point during Jerec's hunt for Qu Rahn, his Vengeance was spotted in the Bortras system.[7]

When Jerec arrived in the Sullust system to retrieve the map to the Valley of the Jedi, he found the Battle of Sullust in progress there. The New Republic forces defending the system against Superior General Sander Delvardus' fleet initially fled upon the appearance of Vengeance, but soon returned with reinforcements from the New Republic First Fleet under Sien Sovv. Vengeance's captain Sysco kept the ship out of the battle in Sulon's orbit on Jerec's orders and in accordance with a secret personal plea by Delvardus, who had started the Battle of Sullust with the intention of losing it. When the New Republic fleet had pinned Delvardus' forces against the unresponsive bulk of Vengeance, Delvardus communicated with Sysco again, asking him to destroy the New Republic's interdictor ship. Sysco complied, and Delvardus' remaining forces fled the system. This in turn led the New Republic commanders to suspect a trap, seeing as the enemy fleet had just jumped out of the way between the New Republic fleet and Vengeance, and they fled the system again, only to return once Jerec, having completed his mission and uninterested in keeping control of Sullust, took Vengeance to the Ruusan system.
