War council at Annaj
The title of this entry is conjectural. That the Imperial fleet regrouped in Annaj system after the Battle of Endor is an established fact in Legends,[1] but that there was a war council aboard Vengeance is not.
Background
After the loss of the second Death Star at Endor, Grand Admiral Teshik placed Captain Pellaeon in command of the fleet and gave orders to regroup at the nearest sector base.[2]
The war council
After the Battle of Endor, an Imperial war council took place in the Annaj system aboard the Super Star Destroyer Vengeance. The council was chaired by Inquisitor Jerec, who sought to use the opportunity to reorganize the Empire under his rule. Among those in attendance were Admiral Harrsk, Vice Admiral Prittick, General Baron Soontir Fel, as well as Captains Pellaeon, Dorja, and Brandei.
Admiral Harrsk arrived from Ilthmar's Fist heavily injured and in a hoverchair. The Dark Jedi Sariss escorted them to the meeting room, where Jerec awaited them together with an uncomfortable Vice Admiral Prittick. A furious Harrsk demanded that the fleet, including Vengeance, immediately return to Endor under his command. Prompted by Fel, Prittick explained that Sate Pestage had declared himself Regent on Coruscant, but Jerec declared Pestage's authority meaningless. Instead of going back to Endor, Jerec said, they should build a new, stronger Empire by finding the Valley of the Jedi. When Harrsk tried to leave, Jerec attempted to stop him, announcing that all of Harrsk's forces belonged to him now. Harrsk in turn revealed he had been transmitting the audio feed from the war council to Ilthmar's Fist, and ordered the Fist's captain to destroy Vengeance unless he reported back momentarily. Harrsk left, followed by two star destroyer captains. Baron Fel left as well, explaining that he had sworn to protect Palpatine's Empire, not whichever one Jerec was planning to create. Brandei, Dorja and Pellaeon followed him. En route back to Chimaera, Pellaeon learned from Lieutenant Reige that Ilthmar's Fist was heading for the Deep Core and Harrsk was inviting all ships to accompany him. Bewildered, Pellaeon instead decided to set a course for Coruscant, realizing that a return to Endor would be futile without either Vengeance or Ilthmar's Fist.[2]
