WanThir was the Palti of Babteer Pil, essentially a General. He worked alongside the Separatists during the Battle of Bandomeer.[1]
Biography
Siege of Selbar
WanThir fought for Babteer Pil during the Battle of Bandomeer, and he eventually joined their consolidation with the Separatist forces in Selbar, where they were besieged. He generally advocated for a cautious approach, agreed with LilVas, who acted as his second-in-command. When General Grievous wanted to leave Selbar in attempt to kill Sadiya Keldon, he was against it, but when it failed, he advocated to go out again on a rescue mission led by TeenPat.[1] WanThir aided their cause remotely, providing commentary and warnings over the comlink.[1]
While Grievous was recovering at the Pablir Regional Medical Center, WanThir went with MelNet and one other Babteer Pil soldier to speak with him. They showed him the Meerian game of Beezfitrar, which they used as a teaching tool to explain the necessity of taking one's losses and living to fight another day.[1]
Attack on Valmin
WanThir aided in commanding Separatist forces when Kuallue and the Republic took the Valmin Water Treatment Facility. They attacked to seize it back, but once they realized that it was not feasible and would cost hundreds of droids, Grievous decided to destroy it instead, forcing the Republic to get out of Selbar the way they came, through an underground tunnel and a well. However, the Republic still had already succeeded in their primary objective of poisoning the water supply and destroying the filtration equipment, forcing the Babteer Pil to rely exclusively on imported bottles that had arrived on the Venture. As such, it forced the Separatist command to accelerate their plans, with only about one week of water left.[1]
The Separatist command agreed to ration out food more generously, since their food supplies were bound to last longer than their water supplies. Grievous decided to offer extra rations for those who enlisted in Babteer Pil and for their families, so WanThir was tasked with quickly training the wave of new recruits, often in classes with a hundred at once.[1]
Final Ground Battle
On the 2nd day of month 16, the Republic attacked Selbar's east wall, and WanThir led the Babteer Pil forces defending it, while Grievous remained in the Demask. Although the wall was breached by walkers, they were pushed back in the end. Though WanThir did not know it, this was part of Sadiya Keldon's plan, since she had already snuck behind their lines and into the town during the chaos. From there, she and Kuallue were able to sabotage their shield, making Selbar vulnerable to bombardment.[1] At this point, the Republic began trying to go back down the cliffside to get away from their own bombardment, but Grievous and WanThir were ready for this, initiating what they dubbed "Protocol Met:" using explosives to destroy the top of the cliff and cause rocks to tumble down onto the descending Grand Army, killing them in an avalanche while the Separatists watched safely from above.[1]
Meanwhile, General Grievous's Decoy was causing chaos on the Kalpana, which proved to their advantage when they moved the troops onto the plain below and tried to take camp aurek. In response, a large clone army massed between them and the camp, but Grievous activated a holographic projection of the Demask placed it between the Kalpana and the clone armies. With the blinded battlecruiser unable to see the difference, turbolaser blasts descended upon the fake frigate, going straight through it and onto the clone army. This made a clear path for Grievous to march all of his troops directly into camp aurek and begin seizing the starships. WanThir and LilVas then boarded a CR25 Troop Carrier.[1]
Battle Over Bandomeer
They then used their newly acquired ships to attack and eventually destroy the Kalpana, thus freeing the way for the Separatists to flee the planet. However, Grievous was feeling confident and instead decided to stand and fight against the two remaining Acclamator-class Assault Ships.[1]
WanThir and LilVas took their carrier to rendezvous with the Demask, at which point, Grievous ordered WanThri to take command of the Micah Giiett, their second-largest starship. WanThir did so, and his ship protected the aft of the Demask for the final battle with remaining Republic naval forces. However, they were quickly damaged, and an ion bomb knocked their shields offline for a minute. They would've been destroyed were it not for a sacrifice by LilVas, which bought WanThir's crew time to get their shields back up.[1]
Later, WanThir was forced to disengage and go further into the planet's gravity well, which Sadiya Keldon interpreted as a trap, trying to lure her ships downward so that that could be surrounded by incoming Separatist reinforcements. This was WanThir's belief as well, but in reality, the reinforcements were many hours away. Nonetheless, Keldon retreated, and the Separatists took control of Bandomeer.[1]
Cleanup in Liznob Bot
Babteer Pil began to retake the planet, and once their Separatist reinforcements arrived, very late that night, they were able to mount an attack against the remaining Republic outposts. WanThir, Grievous, and TeenPat went for Liznob Bot, a town close to Selbar which was acted as one of the bigger Republic strongholds. They seized it in a day, leaving enough time for the Babteer Pil to attend the conclusion of the Selbar Babteer's victory over the Liznob Bot Padneen. WanThir spoke briefly at the event and received an ovation from the crowd.[1]
WanThir told Grievous that he was thankful for what the Separatists did, but he did not want to fight for them offworld. Instead, he decided to focus on helping his people rebuild.[1]
Personality and Traits
WanThir was a grizzled veteran, and he had decades of military experience against pirates.[1] He was good at planning over longer durations, but he struggled to improvise and adapt to more chaotic battles, and he was slow to speak.[1]
The shimmer in his hair and skin was dimmer than most Meerians, and he had dark eyes.[1]
