The Babteer Pil were a Meerian militia group aligned with the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[1]
History
Planetwide Movement
The Babteer Pil were named in honor of the original Babteer movement, which headed the Babteer Revolt in 196 BBY. They supported an independent Bandomeer and loathed offworld interests such as Offworld Mining Corporation and Vulca Minerals. As such, they were staunch supporters of Bandomeer's secession, and they fought against the Galactic Republic in the Battle of Bandomeer when it was reconquered.[1] They had a garrison in Bandor from which they fled, but their base in Selbar remained a Separatist stronghold despite being besieged. Roughly 2,000 Babteer Pil fought the Republic while outside of Selbar, forming small resistance cells that met in the wilderness, while being housed by those sympathetic to them in every town.[1]
Siege of Selbar
Most of the Babteer Pil were trapped alongside General Grievous in the town of Selbar in southern Bandomeer, including their Palti WanThir, as well as LilVas and TeenPat. In the 15th month ABG, TeenPat was captured by the Republic while leading a mission to rescue Grievous outside the town, while LilVas planned a mission to smuggle supplies into the town via pipes to the Lake Nilseen Water Treatment Facility. Later, the Babteer Pil were forced to destroy the Valmin Water Treatment Facility in Selbar in order to prevent a Republic incursion. With Selbar dangerously low on water, they agreed to splurge on their comparatively larger food supplies, offering extra rations to anyone who would join the Babteer Pil. This bolstered recruitment, although training the new recruits in only a few weeks proved a challenge for WanThir.[1]
