Mynar Vernedet was an Imperial officer who was a friend to Gilad Pellaeon.[1]

Biography

Early Years

Vernedet and Pellaeon were two of the youngest and most promising cadets at naval academy, and they were good friends who, during the Clone Wars, wagered as to which of them would first command a battle cruiser. In some point prior to 18 BBY, he married a civilian woman named Aylin, who lived on Coruscant.[1]

Valediction

Vernedet fought alongside Pellaeon aboard the Valediction at the Battle of Zhar and Battle of Farstine in 18 BBY.[1] He was given control of the ship during the Destruction of Plett's Well, when Pellaeon went down to command Imperial commandos on Belsavis. He attempted to keep it in position to intercept escaping vehicles, but the arrival of the Sons and Daughters of Freedom prevented him from catching the escaping Jedi, Mandalorians, and their allies. They were then sent to join the Blockade of Bavinyar, at which point Captain Pellaeon had doubts about his loyalties to the Empire. Captive on board the Valediction was Pellaeon's former lover, Hallena Devis, and Gilad felt that his conflicting feelings made him unfit to serve. He told Mynar to take control of the ship, but Mynar rejected his offer, saying that Pellaeon needed to choose for himself rather than passing the difficult choice onto a subordinate. However, Mynar did agree to help Gilad by turning off the cameras in Hallena's cell when he spoke to her.[1]

Sabotage

Vernedet was forced to interrupt his friend's romantic time when the Valediction arrived in the Bavinyar system, and they were quickly boarded. He got reports about rogue Clone Troopers, Jedi, and Mandalorians hijacking the ship, so he contacted Gilad and rendezvoused with him, alongside Rede and some of the other remaining clones who were still loyal. With the ship lost, they attempted to sabotage its reactor core, but they were stopped by A'Sharad Hett and a team of commandos. Vernedet ordered two clones to take Pellaeon to an escape pod, while he tried to carry out the mission. He attempted to carry a live grenade into the core, but he was bisected by Hett before he could finish the deed.[1]

Legacy

Decades after Vernedet's death, Pellaeon still considered it one of the worst personal losses he had sustained.[2]

Skills and Abilities

Vernedet was known as a talented young officer, and was also popular at the Judicial Academy for his cooking skills.[1]

Personality and Traits

Vernedet was not jealous of Pellaeon's faster rise through the ranks and was glad to be placed on the same ship as him. He was creeped out by the Inquisitor Ameesa Darys.[1]
