The Battle of Farstine was an attack by the Bavinyar Avengers and the Sons and Daughters of Freedom against the Empire, which successfully disabled their Interdictor-class cruiser.[1]
Prelude
Octavian Grant was away from his fleet due to taking a tour of the Eye of Palpatine, which coincidentally arrived shortly before the attack. Meanwhile, Jereveth Syne had made contact with Zozridor Slayke, but the rest of the Bavinyar Avengers were unaware of the alliance that had been made.[1]
The Battle
The Eye of Palpatine was successful at defending itself from Twin Suns Squadron, but with the Venator-class Star Destroyers occupied fighting Slayke's fleet, Syne was ablo to target the interdictor using the Iconoclast. The interdictor requested permission to withdraw, but Grant was unable to effectively assess the situation due to the Eye of Palpatine not giving him any tactical displays, and its lone viewport pointing away from the battle. Grant instructed it to remain, hoping to trap Syne, but that proved to be a critical error.[1]
The battle saw the debut of the TIE Fighter, which proved difficult for enemy pilots to hit, and they were able to destroy 1 corvette as well as snubfighters.[1]
The Eye of Palpatine was wholly inadequate for attacking other capital ships, and the Iconoclast successfully destroyed the interdictor. Zaarin ordered his starfighters to protect the battle moon, which left the Farstine Orbital Defense Station defenseless. However, the Valediction arrived and forced the rebel fleets to escape into hyperspace.[1]
Aftermath
In order to protect the Eye of Palpatine, Vice Admiral Grant ordered Captain Pellaeon not to pursue the rebels.[1]
