Maze is an existing character in Legends.[1]
Biography
Kamino Training
While training, Maze had a friend named Ca, who outperformed him in almost every regard save for marksmanship.[2]
Saleucami
Maze was not particularly thrilled with being stuck at a desk job, and he felt the need to prove himself to his brothers after spending several months without seeing action. That streak finally ended in 32 ABG.[2]
In 32 ABG, (965 days ABG), Maze left Arligan Zey to lead an attack on Saleucami, where he hoped to reinforce Oppo Rancisis and his Siege of Saleucami. He was loaned a Verpine Shatter Rifle from Kal Skirata via Ordo, and he acquired a modified CR25 Troop Carrier that would sneak through Separatist defenses in order to get it done.[3] He teamed up with fellow Alpha ARC Heke but declined the aid of Jedi Master A'Sharad Hett on the ground, who he said would be needed more in the air battle.[2]
Maze and his group landed successfully, though Heke's gunship, flown by Cobalt Team Larty Crew, crashed well before its landing zone. Maze continued on with his own group of clones, including Totten Squad, whose sergeant often commanded them without consulting Maze. Maze did his best to keep the Commandos under his control.[2]
Maze led a sequence of mostly diversionary assaults to prevent the Separatists from focusing on Heke and Tihaar Squad, who were tasked with infiltrating the municipal power station to introduce a bug that would overload the magma reactor and disable the shield. Ultimately, this bug failed, so Maze turned to plan B. He and Totten Squad went after the 5 ion cannons on the ridge to the north, while Heke's group attacked the magma reactor directly.
Both teams ultimately succeeded, and Maze are his men were able to take control of three ion cannons that they used to disable several HMP Droid Gunships.[2] Once the dogfight between arriving Republic gunships and the Droid gunships became more chaotic, they abandoned the guns, as they were just as likely to cause friendly fire.[2]
Kyrimorut
Maze volunteered as the test subject for Dr. Ovolot Qail Uthan's experimental procedure that would allow clone to age less quickly and potentially even outlive normal humans. After the cure was completed on all of the clones in Clan Skirata, he partied with them, but planned to leave with Arligan Zey. However, Kyrimorut was attacked the next morning. Maze attempted to help Jilka Zan Zentis escape, but he found her dead. He then proceded to inadvertantly shoot Ordo Skirata in the leg, and he helped him back to the main compound before subsequently joined the escape aboard the Aay'han.[4]
Mission to Belsavis
After rendezvousing aboard the Chu'unthor, Maze followed the lead of Zey, who volunteered to aid the Altisian Jedi's mission to save children of the Jedi on Belsavis, which faced an imminent Imperial attack. They ended up also receiving aid from Bardan Jusik and 7 other clones from Clan Skirata. After a brief dogfight in atmosphere, Maze's group landed the Aay'han and ventured into the tunnels where the Jedi hid underground. Ash Jarvee and Nor Vald were then guided in different directions by the Force, so the group split up. Maze went with Zey, Prudii, and Nor Vald, and they ended up finding Master Plett with two of the younglings, Lagan and Roganda Ismaren.[4]
While attempting to reach the hangar, they were attacked by Imperial commandos, and slowed down once Prudii was shot. The Jedi helped buy time by collapsing crates into the clones' way, but they were ultimately converged upon once more. Maze attempted to help Prudii limp to safety away from the firefight, and they were aid by a telekinetic lift from Zey. However, in doing so, Zey let down his guard and failed to deflect a blast bolt. He was shot in the head and died. Prudii intended to stay behind and use a grenade to collapse the cavern on the Imperials, but he was shot. Maze was hit in the arm and chest, but survived long enough to retrieve the detonator and blew up the tunnels himself as the clones circled in around him.[4]
Personality and Traits
According to Zey, Maze had a Force signature of "intensely focused purpose."[2] After moving to Kyrimorut with Arligan Zey, Maze found himself to be very bored and took to chopping wood.[4]
