Kal Skirata is an existing Legends character.[1]
Biography
Kyrimorut
In 18 BBY, he went with Walon Vau and Ordo to Keldabe to meet with Fenn Shysa, who asked for information about surviving Jedi. After refusing to share info and being assaulted on their way back, he chose not to visit Keldabe again for the foreseeable future.[2]
Kal then spent time watching all of his clone sons get healed of their accelerated aging by Mij Gilamar and Ovolot Qail Uthan. He sat outside the shed for the entirety of each procedure while everyone else came and went. He then partied with the Clan and danced with Nyreen Vollen. However, Kyrimorut was attacked the next morning, and Kal fled aboard the Cornucopia.[2]
Chu'unthor
In the aftermath, he rendevoused with the rest of the Clan aboard the Chu'unthor. He then contacted Darman Skirata, who was deeply concerned for his son's safety with the Jedi around. Skirata retorted that they'd be getting rid of the Jedi soon on Belsavis, a critical mistake that allowed Darman to reveal the location of the Jedi hideout to the Empire.[2]
Later, when Kal learned of the imminent attack on Belsavis, he was deeply concerned for the lives of the Jedi children, but he also didn't want to throw the lives of his sons away in someone else's conflict. Ultimately, he remained undecided, and watched as the clones agreed to help one by one.[2]
Grief and Recovery
After he learned about how many clones died on Belsavis, he blamed himself for it, and he sunk into a deep pit of despair. He first heard the news while in the kitchen with Nyreen Vollen and Ruusaan Skirata, at which point he demanded they leave, knocked a hot pan off the stove, and smashed a glass against the wall. He sequestered himself until Walon Vau entered, telling Kal that of Darman and Niner, once was dead and the other was captured aboard the Valediction. Kal lashed out against Vau, but Vau hit back, forcing him to stand down.[2]
Vau then explained how he was collaborating with the Bavinyar Avengers and the Jedi to help break them out, but Kal was hardened, and said that he wouldn't work the the Jedi anymore, after how much it had cost them on Belsavis. However, Vau convinced him to move on from his self-pity and get the remaining clones home.[2]
Miracle at Bavinyar
Kal then led the hijacking of the Valediction during the Blockade of Bavinyar, which he did to rescue Niner Skirata and Delta Squad. After rendezvousing with the la tter at an airlock, he and several other clones rescued the former from his cell. After that, Bardan Jusik sensed that Ameesa Darys was not far, attempting to interrogate So Plett. Wanting revenge for her killing Atin Skirata, Kal went with Bardan, Wad'e Tay'haai, and the remaining Null ARCs to hunt her down. She ambushed them and killed Tay'haai, which sent Kal into a fury before he was knocked down by a Force push. Darys turned her attention to Bardan, who held her off for long enough during a duel that Kal was able to shoot her in the head.[2] From there, there were able to each the ship's bridge, and Kal helped to command the battle. While many expected him to flee after the clones were rescued, he stood and fought, using the Star Destroyer's guns to cover the escape of the Chu'unthor, which carried about 200,000 evacuating civilians.[2]
Niner's Sorrow
After fleeing, Kal decided to part ways with the Bavinyar Avengers, ordering his clan to scatter and hide, only regrouping occasionally until the Empire stopped chasing them. Shortly thereafter, Niner confessed to him how he had been the one to kill Darman, because it was Darman's hate that caused everything to get out of hand. Kal recognized that Niner was near-suicidal with this knowledge, and so he told Bardan Jusik about what happened. Bardan offered to erase both Niner and Kal's memories. Kal said he could live with the scar, but Niner accepted, and allowed Bardan to wipe away his pain.[2]
Personality and Traits
Kal was hit very hard by grief when he learned of the deaths of his sons at Belsavis, and he immediately blamed himself for not vetoing the mission, as well as steering Darman wrong into a radical hatred of the Jedi.[2]
