Zak Arranda is an existing Legends character.[1] Born 12 BBY on Alderaan, Zak and his sister Tash survived the destruction of their homeworld and later became Jedi of the New Jedi Order.
Biography
Escape from Hoth
In 3 ABY, Zak escaped the Imperial attack on Hoth together with his sister Tash and their uncle Hoole. While they were still in the Hoth system aboard the Shroud, they received a distress signal from the drifting freighter Keefe's Needle. The Needle's occupants, a woman and her two children, had been driven mad and then killed by droch parasites; with the help of DV-9, the freighter was sterilized and Zak, Tash and Hoole went aboard. They found tokens from the Imperial Lottery, which would have granted the family the right to settle on the Emperor's mysterious resort world of Byss. The Arrandas and Hoole then took on the identities of the Keefe family, hoping to gain intelligence on Byss for the Rebel Alliance.[2]
Life on Byss
By 4 ABY, eight months after the Battle of Endor, Zak and Tash were living on Byss, in the city surrounding the Emperor's Citadel. They were unaware of the Citadel's function, and when Palpatine's Force lightning was visible near its tip, Zak speculated they were seeing static discharges. They were taking care of a baby they called "Little T" at the time, and surrounded by other parents, feeling happy.
In late 5 ABY, Zak and Tash were still living on Byss and still oblivious, with another baby called "Little Z." When the sun Beshqek exploded and Palpatine tried to contain the supernova using the Kaan Heptad, Zak interpreted the event as a light show created for their enjoyment, even though Tash expressed a sudden unease with their situation.[2]
