It was first published on fanfiction.net on January 1, 2020. Synopsis

Seventy years have passed since the deaths of Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine. The heroes of the Rebellion have passed the torch to new generations. The Galactic Alliance keeps peace across the galaxy while the Imperial Remnant has been reformed thanks to the efforts of Jaina and Jagged Fel. The children of the galaxy are growing up in a place of equality and justice. Luke Skywalker's son Ben lands a new Jedi Order and trains his daughter in the ways of the Force.

Yet the decades-long peace might be coming to a close. Unrest in the Outer Rim threatens to spill over into bloody revolt and somewhere in the shadows a new league of Sith lays a trap to snare the Jedi. When conflict begins, the next generation of heroes will be tested against enemies old and new...

Development

Gregory O. Scott began A Shadowed Peace as part of a larger initiative to address unfinished storylines within the Star Wars Legends EU. Scott had previously written the Sword of the Jedi to replace the canceled official series of the same name, aiming to provide closure to the characters and storylines left unresolved when the Legends continuity was discontinued. However, one significant gap remained—the 80-year span between the post-Return of the Jedi novels and Legacy comics.

Plugging this gap involved creating a new generation of Skywalkers, Solos, Fels, and others while finding a balance between ending old characters' arcs and introducing new ones. The creative freedom was both exciting and daunting, as Scott had to ensure the story tied together essential elements of Star Wars: the Alliance, Empire, Jedi, Sith, Mandalorians, and even the Yuuzhan Vong. The novel references elements from Scott's Sword of the Jedi trilogy while remaining accessible to fans familiar with the pre-Disney Legends EU. The book's four-act structure spans 40 chapters and presents familiar faces alongside new heroes, marking the culmination of Scott's efforts to blend old and new elements of Star Wars lore.[2]
