F-4GR
F-4GR, also called "Forger," was the personal protocol droid of Grand Admiral Afsheen Makati.
Description
F-4GR had a silver chassis, which by 5 ABY was dented and scratched from decades of use. A fold-out blaster was hidden inside F-4GR's right arm casing, and a vibroblade in his right, enabling the droid to fend off intruders.[1]
Biography
Early service on Cartao
F-4GR was already in the service of the Makati family when Afsheen was a boy growing up on Cartao. Before the Clone Wars, F-4GR often took care of Afsheen while his parents were busy steering Cartao's industry. After the Clone Wars destroyed that industry, along with the fortunes of the Makati family, it seemed to Afsheen that F-4GR was all the family had left.[1]
Final campaigns
When Grand Admiral Makati sent Azrakel to destroy the false Prophets of the Dark Side on Space Station Scardia, F-4GR asked whether the Grand Admiral was sure those were the last of the Prophets, moments before Lumiya sent a transmission directing Makati to the hiding place of the true Prophets on Bosthirda.[2]
After the Prophets had been defeated, F-4GR accompanied Makati to Coruscant, where they resided in quarters supplied by Ysanne Isard. F-4GR helped remove the bugs planted by Isard and then guarded the Grand Admiral's quarters while Makati was away. When Makati returned from a conference with Isard, he asked F4GR for advice on where to strike against Warlord Zsinj's forces. F-4GR advised against hiring Mandalorians and supplied data on Bandomeer as a possible target, contacting the Ubiqtorate on Makati's behalf to obtain up-to-date intelligence in preparation for a strike. Speculating that someone might be after Makati personally, F-4GR assured the Grand Admiral that it would sacrifice itself to keep him safe if necessary.
During the siege of Bandomeer, F-4GR served Makati a cup of strong black caf with a shot of Rycanthian whiskey mixed in. After the battle, F-4GR asked why Makati had enlisted the help of Fenn Shysa's Mandalorians after all, and accepted Makati's explanation that the temporary alliance had been mutually convenient.
Back on Coruscant, F-4GR informed Makati that an encrypted message had arrived in his absence; it turned out to be a secure communications link to Grand Admiral Thrawn.
F-4GR accompanied Makati to Bonadan in late 5 ABY, where it saved the Grand Admiral's life during an assassination attempt by agents of Zsinj posing as Corporate Sector Security Police. When a CSA tech suggested refitting F-4GR, Makati objected vehemently, arguing that the droid was the only one who had performed optimally during the assassination attempt. Back on Steadfast, Makati and F-4GR contemplated nostalgia together, and the droid admitted it sometimes did access memories from their days on Cartao.
During the Battle of Etti IV, the New Republic agents Kasck Fre'leir and Reyan Dey'rylan broke into Makati's room aboard Steadfast. While F-4GR was still extending its blaster pistol, Fre'leir hit it with a magnetic clamp containing an ion charge that put F-4GR temporarily out of commission. During that time, Dey'rylan reprogrammed F-4GR to attack Makati when he returned to his room. Fre'leir and Dey'rylan both died in an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate Makati, but when Makati retired to his room after the battle, F-4GR apologized before shooting Makati, killing him.[1]
