Shadow Hand
This article is about the title. For the legendary figure called "The Shadow Hand", see Chial.
A Shadow Hand served as second-in-command to the Dark Lord of the Sith.[1]
When Darth Bane established the Rule of Two, the position of Shadow Hand was eliminated, as there would only ever be two active Sith at once.
Role
Before the arrival of the Exiles on Korriban, the Sith kings were served by an advisor called a Shadow Hand. This was one of many traditions and customs Ajunta Pall absorbed upon subjugating the native Sith population of Korriban and founding the first Sith Empire.
A Shadow Hand's role and powers were subject to the whims of the reigning Dark Lord. In some instances, the title of Shadow Hand was merely ceremonial; in others, they served in a capacity comparable to the Republic's Vice Chancellor.
With the demise of the Sith Order after the Seventh Battle of Ruusan, Darth Bane implemented the Rule of Two and abolished the title outright.
