Darth Hopel was a human male Sith Lord who served Darth Ruin during the early New Sith Wars. Originally chieftain of an isolated Sith tribe on Yavin IV, Hopel joined Ruin's forces as part of the latter's attempts to reconstitute the Sith Empire.
Biography
When Darth Ruin and Darth Cinder arrived on Yavin IV in search of Sith artifacts, Hopel and his tribe entreated with them. After several nights of deliberations, Hopel eventually agreed to depart with Ruin to further the latter's aim of reforging the Old Sith Empire. Upon returning to Korriban, Hopel was formally inducted into Ruin's Dark Council. At Ruin's academy, he was placed in charge of training nascent Sith sorcerers.
Over time, Hopel grew disillusioned with the Dark Lord.[1] These tensions culminated when Ruin chose to flee with his Dark Council during the Sack of Korriban.[1] Seeing Ruin as a madman, Hopel developed plans to rebel against his Dark Lord in the event that circumstances became dire. Hopel spent most of his time aboard the Solipsis locked in his room.[2]
Hopel was compelled to act when Darth Bestia confided in him that Ruin had raped her.[2] He decided to provoke and kill Ruin the next time the Dark Lord assembled his Dark Council.[2] However, Hopel's plan backfired: instead of challenging him to a duel, Ruin simply killed him in his seat.[1]
