R2-D2 is an existing droid from Legends.[1]
Eight months after the Battle of Endor, R2-D2 assisted Luke Skywalker in clearing out the Palace of the Woolamander on Yavin IV. To help Skywalker rest, R2-D2 had a medical droid supply him with a soporific that R2-D2 administered to Skywalker in the evenings. When Skywalker had a fitful dream about Palpatine returning, R2-D2 decided to increase the dose of the soporific in the future.[2]
