The New Republic Fifth Fleet is an existing fleet from Legends.[1]
Operational History
Yuuzhan Vong War
The Fifth Fleet was stationed at Bothawui at the beginning of the Yuuzhan Vong War, and later between Bothan space and Yuuzhan Vong-occupied Hutt Space. It did not see action for the first two years of the war.
In 27 ABY, a detachment of the fleet was sent to Charros to intercept a presumed Yuuzhan Vong Rimward push. Operating as Task Force Cloverleaf, it was commanded by Commodore Syub Snunb. When the battle of Charros turned out to be a diversion, Snunb took the task force to nearby Rathalay to aid in the evacuation of the planet while it was invaded by the Yuuzhan Vong. Snunb was killed during the battle of Rathalay, and his forces were briefly commanded by the former Grand Admiral Grant before he was killed too. Only three ships of the task force escaped from Rathalay system. Another Fifth Fleet detachment, Task Force Apex, was en route to assist at Rathalay when it was pulled from hyperspace by a Yuuzhan Vong interdictor.[2]
