History
The former Grand Admiral Grant, who defected to the New Republic in 6 ABY, befriended the retired smuggler Kaerobani on Rathalay, and spent much time at Kaerobani's estate.
During the Yuuzhan Vong War, war refugees attempted to settle on the planet, which met with resistance from the local government. The New Republic dispatched Jedi Master Yuhlan Sarn and her apprentice Eryl Besa to the planet alongside representatives from the Senate Select Committe for Refugees in order to broker a deal. While negotiations were still ongoing, and Jedi apprentices Anakin Solo and Tahiri Veila were sent to Rathalay to assist Eryl Besa in identifying Yuuzhan Vong spies among the refugees, a full Yuuzhan Vong invasion fleet attacked the planet, sending landers to its major cities to gather up slaves.
A New Republic task force arrived from nearby Charros and was able to take on some refugees from planetside, but one of the two carriers accepting refugees was destroyed in a grutchin attack and the task force had to retreat. Grant was able to escape into Rathalay's orbit together with the three Jedi apprentices Besa, Solo and Veila, thanks to Master Sarn sacrificing herself, and together they enabled parts of the task force to escape the system, carrying refugees from Rathalay to safety while leaving the planet itself in the hands of the Yuuzhan Vong.[2]
