Rust, or RC-5096, was a Republic Commando who was part of Totten Squad.[1]
Biography
Rust fought at the Battle of Jabiim with Totten Squad, the group that managed to stunningly stick together without any casualties as far as 32 months into the war.[1]
Saleucami
In 32 months ABG, the squad was sent to Saleucami, where they were to reinforce Oppo Rancisis's Siege of Saleucami. Their gunship took them inside Sagujeru thanks to experimental cloaking technology.[1] They aided various feints in order to support Heke's plan to disable the shields with a computer bug. When that failed, they and Maze changed plans to focus on assaulting the Ion Cannons.[1] Maze, Rust, and the rest of Totten Squad went after the 5 ion cannons on the ridge to the north, while Heke's group attacked the magma reactor directly.
Both teams ultimately succeeded, and Rust and his team were able to take control of three ion cannons that they used to disable several HMP Droid Gunships.[1] Once the dogfight between arriving Republic gunships and the Droid gunships became more chaotic, they abandoned the guns, as they were just as likely to cause friendly fire.[1] They then found and attempted to snipe at Tol Skorr, but he turned the tables on them and nearly killed them before they were saved by an LAAT/i Gunship.[1]
Personality and Traits
Rust was not trained by a Mandalorian and disliked when others assumed that all RCs had Mandalorian heritage.[1]
